For those of you who couldn’t attend, you missed quite a fun evening of mixing with your fellow local Tweeters. As I like to say, we put the “social” in “social networking.”
The turnout was a little lower than it was last month, I don’t know if that was due to the day or to the location, but if it was the latter, you’ll be happy to know that next month’s Tweet Up (being planned by @sethgoldstein and @nealwiser) will be back in Center City, again at Fox & Hound. Watch @tweetupphilly and this site for more details in the coming weeks.

First of all, there is a tweet up this Wednesday at Fox and Hound (1501 Spruce Street Philly) from 5:30pm-10pm. Don’t worry, you haven’t missed anything…this is NOT the tweetup that we’re planning, but Jen and I will both be there, so if you can make it, come by and introduce yourself! While I can’t speak for Jen, I can promise that I won’t bite.
Okay, moving on…let’s talk about the details of the very first #TUP (that’s the hashtag we’ll be using for Tweet Up Philly).
We’ve got a date and time: Thursday April 16th at 6:30pm. Since this is TweetUp *PHILLY* and we are the home of the WORLD CHAMPION Philadelphia Phillies (wow, that’s still fun to say), we picked the 16th because there’s a Phillies game on TV (don’t worry season ticket holders, it’s an away game).
Now that we’ve got the date, we need a venue. Thanks for the suggestions so far, but since we have a date and need a TV, we would like more suggestions and all will be considered. So this is where you come in…
We’re looking for a place…
- in Philly (or very close)
- with parking
- that will be broadcasting the game
- with food & drink
- that will be able to accommodate 10-50 tweeps
- Wifi is a plus
Okay, you’ve read this far so clearly you have at least SOME level of interest in a Tweet Up for Philly people. Now that we’ve established that…PLEASE leave a comment on this post!

What’s A Tweet Up?
I guess it would be helpful to define that right off the bat, huh? A tweet up is basically a relaxed & fun real life meet up between people who know each other from Twitter.
Who’s Behind Tweet Up Philly?
@waltpsu & @jenz036. We thought it would be fun to get to know other Philly-area Tweeple. About an hour later, this site appeared out of virtually nowhere (Get it? That was a pun…oh, forget it).
What Kind Of Events Are Planned?
We’d like to hold our first Tweet Up Philly in April. There’s no time or date or place yet. That’s where you come in. We just started this site today (Mar 2nd). The plan is to spend the next few weeks connecting with Philly area people who would be interested in attending a tweet up, and then during the last week or two of March we’ll poll everybody for their input on good places and times. By the end of March we’ll have a date set for an April tweet up.
After that, who knows? If it’s a success and lots of people enjoy it, maybe we’ll do one per month. Maybe more. Maybe less. Maybe we’ll have a tweet up at a Phillies game (that’d be sweet!). We’ll see! Right now, we’re focused on getting the first one rolling.
